Objective

This project proposes the development of a novel, modular MEMS-based gas compressor designed for space applications, leveraging microfabrication to achieve significant reductions in mass, volume, and power consumption compared to traditional technologies. The compressor, scalable through modular serial or parallel configurations, can dynamically meet specific mission requirements such as gas collection for In-Situ Resource Utilization (ISRU), life support systems (ECLSS), thermal management, propulsion feed systems, and CubeSat microfluidics. By exploiting MEMS technology, this solution introduces unprecedented adaptability, reliability, and performance, aligned with ESA’s strategic goals for ultra-compact, resilient, and cost-effective space infrastructure.
