The proposed idea is a study towards a CubeSat that is designed to test and demonstrate important technologies needed to meet stricter space debris mitigation requirements. A key item of this mission is that it will implement one-fault tolerance in order to increase reliability for crucial functions like collision avoidance, passivation and end-of-life disposal without relying on passive compliancy. The mission under study would follow the CubeSat design philosophy, with a CubeSat standard timeline, budget and risk management approach, to ensure the solutions would work for as many CubeSats as possible, from commercial CubeSats to university projects. The study is towards a mission that will meet the current space debris mitigation requirements and implement a proactive approach to future requirements.
